A resident agent is a responsible third party who is located in the same state in which a business entity was established, and who is designated to receive service of processing notices, correspondence for the Secretary of State, and other official government notifications, usually tax forms, IRS audits, and notice of lawsuits, on behalf of its corporations or LLCs. It adds a layer of privacy.
When an individual list themselves as the resident agent it just put the public on notice that they are the corporation or LLC.
When assigning a registered agent, the general public does not know whether you’re a one or two person entity or 500 or 5000. Give your corporation the appearance it deserves with privacy by using a Resitered Agent!
